Dieting Just Doesn't Work Long Term
My Observations & Education Have Taught Me
that Restricted Calorie & Low Fat Dieting
Just Do NOT Work
After I put myself through the University of Georgia by working full time for several years in a genetics research lab while I studied biology and animal science at UGA (I originally thought I wanted to be a veterinarian), I understood the basic concepts of body weight physiology.
Yet it was obvious with my own, with my family members' and friends' weight issues that there is a lot more to the whys of body weight than physiology alone.
As most of us have experienced, permanent weight loss is not simply the old adage that eating less calories makes the body lose weight.
Even though we will initially lose weight in a restricted calorie or low fat diet, it is often mostly muscle & water weight, not the excess fat that we desire to loose.
Plus, how many of us can live their entire life on a restricted calorie or low fat diet?
Very few indeed.
Unfortunately, the body is designed to just keep adjusting to need fewer & fewer calories to maintain it's weight without burning it's fat stores.
Even the most determined restricted calorie or low fat dieters eventually give in to the temptations of delicious food & soon they are going right back to their old eating habits.
What is worse, being on a restricted calorie or low fat diet sets the body up to gain fat as soon as the dieter starts eating normal portions of food, especially eating sugar & junk food.
